Maldives is an Asian country. The closest countries are Sri Lanka and India. It takes about an hour to fly from Sri Lanka to Maldives, a little bit more than an hour from Trivendrum of India. Every island is surrounded by water and disconnected from other islands. It takes about 5 hours to fly from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. About 8 hours from Guangzhou China. The population of Maldives belongs almost entirely to the Maldivian ethnic group which is the result of various peoples settling in the islands successively through the country’s history. The first settlers, it is generally believed, were Tamil and Sinhalese peoples from southern India India and Sri Lanka. Traders from Arab countries, Malaya, Madagascar Indonesia and China visited the islands through the centuries. The official language is an Indo-European language called Dhivehi (or Maldivian); Arabic, Hindi, and English are also spoken. Islam is the state religion. A student Visa is a permit to remain in the Maldives for a specific time, granted to a foreign student to study in the Maldives. This class of visa is also known as an S1 visa.

You must upload supporting documents online at the time of application. They are:
- Copy of your academic transcript in English
- Copy of passport front page which is signed and stamped by an authorizing body.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency.
- Attested/verified photocopies of your certificates.
ID card photo with blue background passport size photo.
The applicant is required to check his or her application status by signing into the online application for admission approximately three weeks after he or she has applied online and provided all supporting documents. The portal will keep updating your status.
